Australian size labels use manufacturer-specific dimensions

Names such as single, queen and king are familiar market labels, not one legally universal set of dimensions. Sealy also states a manufacturing tolerance of plus or minus 15 mm for its handmade mattresses, while SleepMaker says its mattresses may vary 1–2 cm from its indicative guide. Measure the bed frame, not only the mattress

A frame with rails, upholstery or a broad bedhead can be wider and longer than its mattress. Record the maximum outside dimensions. Mark that rectangle on the floor and include the depth of any leaning bedhead or drawers that extend from the sides.

Open the bedroom door, wardrobe and bedside drawers. Walk the route used at night and when making the bed. If the room needs a cot, mobility aid, laundry basket or access from both sides, include it in the test rather than treating empty floor as spare space.

Treat firmness labels as maker-specific descriptions

It is one buying option, not a recommendation for every sleeper. Add that height to your base before checking bedside reach and fitted-sheet depth.

Both the exact brand page and Amazon listing state a five-year defect warranty. The reviewed offer is sold and dispatched by Artiss Furnishings; use the Amazon order to contact the seller and keep the invoice. A defect warranty does not promise that you will like the firmness. No opened-mattress sleep trial was verified, and the displayed 30-day original-condition return window should not be treated as one.

The individual reviews we inspected were mainly other sizes in the same family. Several owners liked the comfort, while one reported overheating. That does not establish how this queen will feel to you or how it will last. The manufacturer excludes use by children under three. Check the seller, delivery, return collection and base requirements before ordering.

A lower-profile queen to try before committing

The Englander Orlando Queen Firm is also 153 × 203cm, but 28cm high: 6cm lower than the Solene above. That difference changes the finished bed height and sheet fit, not necessarily comfort. The retailer’s owner reviews span the Orlando range and cannot establish how Queen Firm will feel to you.

A lower-profile foam queen for the same base

Add 25 cm to your base height and compare the result with the top of your bedside table. Check that the base supports and ventilates the mattress.

Add mattress height to the top of the base. Sit on the resulting height and check whether both feet reach the floor comfortably and whether the bedside surface remains reachable.

Deep mattresses need fitted sheets and protectors with enough pocket depth. Allow extra fabric for toppers. Check that bedding will not pull tight at the corners or slip off when an adjustable base moves.
